Tumor Localization (Gallium Scan)
What is a Tumor Localization Scan or Gallium Scan?
A Tumor Localization Scan sometimes known
as a Gallium Scan is used to detect infection within the body.
What takes place during the test?
A Gallium Scan takes place over a three

the day one injection for a whole body scan lasting approximately 1
hour. During the scan, you will lie on the imaging table with the camera
positioned above or below you while several images are taken. You will
return again the following day (day 3) within 24 hours of the day two
scan for another whole body scan lasting approximately 1 hour.
How long will the test take to
complete?
Day one injection will take approximately 10
minutes followed by a 24 hour delay and a 1 hour scan followed by
another 24 hour delay and a 1 hour scan. Overall time until completion
is approximately 48 hours.
